The String Sextet of Accademia Teatro alla Scala

The String Sextet was born in the context of the Masterclass for Orchestra Musicians, held since 2000 with the goal of introducing talented musicians in the most important orchestras in Italy and abroad. Throughout the years, the orchestra’s soloists, having developed valuable professional experience, decided to form an ensemble in which they could share similar interests and artistic ambitions. The members of the sextet are Livio Salvatore Troiano (violin), Aldo Sebastian Cicchini (violin), Luca Guidi (viola), Paolo Fumagalli (viola), Gianluca Muzzolon (cello) and Alejandro Mariangel Pradenas (cello). The concert repertoire includes music of P.I. Tchaikovsky, L. Bocchirini and G. Verdi.

Julian Gargiulo is back in Singapore! He will be giving a benefit concert in Singapore Botanic Gardens for the victims of the devastating tsunami which recently hit Japan. Julian invited Satsuki Nagatome (soprano) to perform during this special concert.

ABOUT ARTISTS
Julian Lawrence Gargiulo is a dynamic classical pianist who renders the compositions of renowned masters with extraordinary passion and precision, and fills the concert hall with his personal brand of charm, humor and charisma. He has performed in the United States, Canada, UK, Italy, France, Germany, Russia, Singapore, Philippines, China, and Australia, meeting always with both public and critical acclaim. Born and educated in Italy, with dual U.S. and Italian citizenship, Mr. Gargiulo studied at the Verona State Conservatory (Randone), the Mugi Academy in Rome (Ciccolini) and the Moscow State Conservatory (Mezhlumov). In the United States he received his Bachelor's Degree at Rowan University (Zuponcic), Master's Degree at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University (Slutsky), and his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at the University of Maryland (Rodriguez). Gargiulo is the founder and director of the Sacred Heart Concert Series, a program that brings classical music to younger audiences and the Water Island Classical Music Festival in the Virgin Islands. n 2008 Julian founded the Non-profit organization 16000children.org which brings together musicians, visual artists and filmmakers in creating events to raise awareness for the 16000 children that die of hunger in the world every day.

Soprano Satsuki Nagatome was born in Tokyo and began performing as a member of NHK Tokyo Broadcasting Children's chorus at the age of 7, appearing on several TV and radio programs and numerous stage performances over the next 13 years. In Singapore, Satsuki studied under Lim Shieh Yih and has performed as a member of Singapore Lyric Opera Chorus and The Philharmonic Chamber Chorus. As a classical soloist, Satsuki has performed in a wide variety of works. Her solo recital debut was at the Raffles Hotel Jubilee Hall in 2009. She is currently studying under Khor Ai Ming. As a flamenco singer, Satsuki has appeared in various performances including the opening of The Arts House in 2004, and the 2005 and 2006 Mosaic Music Festivals held at The Esplanade. She has also sung for world-renowned flamenco dancer and choreographer Antonio Vargas. Satsuki established the Bel Canto choirs in 2008 and undertakes the guidance of the Japanese in Singapore. Satsuki made her operatic debut as Mercedes in Singapore lyric opera’s Carmen in Jan 11’. She will go to Germany for opera master class from Jun 11 and will be as Donna Elvira in "Don Giovanni".
